The process of employment
termination in Georgia
Termination process
It is important to note that employee contracts can be terminated if a just cause for termination has been established. This includes situations such as economic circumstances or organizational changes necessitating workforce reduction, expiration of the contract, employee resignation, mutual agreement, lack of qualifications, gross misconduct, prolonged incapacity (over 40 days), legal restrictions, and other objective reasons justifying termination.
Notice period
The termination of an employment contract requires the employer to notify the employee in writing at least 30 days in advance for specific grounds and providing at least one month’s severance pay. If terminated for other reasons, a shorter notice of three days applies, with two months’ severance.
